Youth Programs

Campfire
This facility is located in the Charles E. Bailey, Sr. Sportplex. Programs for boys and girls from age 6-18 are planned and coordinated through a Board of Directors and Group Leaders. Contact Karen Ray, Executive Director, for more information.

Swimming Lessons
Swimming lessons are offered during the summer months at the Russell swimming pool. Lessons are taught by certified water safety instructors through the American Red Cross. Nearly 600 children participate in this very beneficial program each summer.

Day Camps
We host intercession day camps during the school breaks (spring, summer, fall, and winter). During every break, excluding the week of July 4th and Christmas, we will have camp at the Sportplex. Activities include field trips, games, visiting the Children's library, imagination station playtime, swimming, swimming lessons, bowling, skating, and many more. The price is $65/week. Discounts will be given for city employees and siblings. You may also sign up on a day to day schedule at $15/day which is our "drop-in" fee. These prices include 2 drinks and 2 snacks each day. However, lunch must be sent with your child.

After School Program | Registration Application
The Afterschool Program is offered to children in our city school system. The fee is $25/child/week. The school bus named "Mickey Mouse" brings the children after school to the Sportplex. We provide snacks and drinks for the children. They are offered the opportunity to go swimming, fishing, hiking, time at Imagination Station, study time, visits to the Children's Library, and we are visited by different educational speakers monthly. We currently have 40 children participating ranging from ages 5-12. Contact Jennifer Baker at 329-6736 ext. 26 for more details.
